Join The Academy & NMAND

The NMAND recommends new dietetic students become Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics student members.  As a student member of The Academy, you will automatically become a member of NMAND as well, and we welcome you to NMAND and The Academy.  We hope you will find these organizations useful in your professional life and enjoyable as well!  If you are interested in becoming more involved with NMAND please contact our membership coordinator or nominating committee chair.

New Mexico Dietetic Programs

University of New Mexico (UNM)

The Univeristy of New Mexico offers an undergraduate Didactic Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Dietetic Internship, and a masters program in Nutrition.  For more information on the Nutrition programs at UNM visit the Nutrition & Dietetics program page under the College of Education.

Join the Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization (UNSO).  They meet monthly during the Fall and Spring semesters and offer a variety of opportunities to network with other nutrition student peers, get involved in the communtiy, learn from current nutrition professionals, and jump start your nutrition career.  For more infomration on UNSO email nutrclub@unm.edu.


New Mexico State University (NMSU)

New Mexico State University offers an undergraduate Didactic Program in Human Nutrition and Food Science, a Dietetic Internship, and a masters program in Family and Consumer Sciences.  For more information on the Nutrition programs at NMSU visit the HNFS program website.

Scholarships

New Mexico Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (NMAND) has two $500 scholarships available for New Mexico Nutrition Students.  The application is available between December and March every year, and scholarships are awarded at the Annual meeting.  For more information please contact our Professional Issues Coordinator Elect.

2012 Application

Undergraduate Student Scholarship Qualifications:

  1. Student officially admitted to a nutrition/dietetics program at a New Mexico school
  2. Has completed 60 credit hours including 12 hours applicable towards meeting the academic requirements for membership in ADA
  3. A GPA of 3.0 or higher
  4. Student member of the American Dietetic Association

Graduate Scholarship Qualifications:

  1. Resident of New Mexico
  2. Accepted as a graduate student in a program or internship or presently enrolled in such a program at a New Mexico school
  3. A GPA of 3.0 or higher
  4. Student member of the American Dietetic Association
