NMAND Legislative Day

The First Annual Legislative day for NMAND members is scheduled for February 11, 2012.

Our Public Policy Committee has organized an exciting day in which our primary goal is to get our local and state legislators to know who we are and what we do and that RD’s are the Nutrition Experts.

NMAND wants you to support public policy, which advances good nutrition as well as continue to defend your career, your license, and your profession.  In an era of increased interest in nutrition, an epidemic of chronic disease, and increasing competition from other professions, this is no small task.

It CAN be done--- with your participation!  Since NMAND is an all-volunteer organization, our effectiveness is dependent upon our members' volunteering!  While we all have priorities at home and on the job, this is also a key priority.  We politely request your participation at our Legislative Day 2012!  NMAND members are needed from districts all across the state of New Mexico!  We need to be visible and involved with the legislators….our future jobs depend on it!!

We will have a table/booth in the West Halls and there are a variety of different ways for you to participate:

• Vonunteer at the booth to say hello and meet passing legislators
• Volunteering to meet with a legislator or their staff**
• Hand out packets of information to participants

**If you would like to volunteer to meet with a Legislator or thier staff, please contact Kristen Crosby krose_27@yahoo.com  and we will set up your appointment (5-10 minutes).  We will have a script for you, all the written materials you will need, and a partner to go with you so no one has to go alone.

Location: West Halls of History at the Capitol Building in Santa Fe, NM (Located at the corner of
Old Santa Fe Trail and Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe)

Schedule of Events:

Table in West Halls of History from 9:00am to noon
Lunch from 12:30 to 1:30
Table in West Halls of History from 2:00-4:00 pm

Lunch will be provided by NMAND to all volunteers!

Time: Meet at Target (I-25 and Paseo del Norte) at 7 am and leave for Santa Fe by 7:15 am
